Baked Tofu Tacos
Ingredients
- 1 block of extra-firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 small taco-sized tortillas (corn or flour)
- Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onions, avocado slices, salsa, chopped cilantro, lime wedges, etc.
Instructions
- Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- While the oven is preheating, prepare the tofu. Drain the tofu and press it to remove excess moisture. You can use a tofu press or place the tofu between paper towels and place a heavy object on top for about 15-20 minutes.
- Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into small cubes.
- Marinating and Baking:
- In a bowl, mix together the olive oil, soy sauce, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the tofu cubes to the bowl and gently toss them in the marinade until evenly coated.
- Arrange the marinated tofu cubes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased.
- Bake the tofu in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the tofu is golden brown and slightly crispy, flipping the cubes halfway through for even cooking.
- Assembling Tacos:
- Warm the taco-sized tortillas according to the package instructions.
- Assemble the tacos by placing a few pieces of baked tofu on each tortilla.
- Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onions, avocado slices, salsa, chopped cilantro, and any other toppings you prefer.
- Squeeze fresh lime juice over the tacos for extra flavor.
